HC Deb 24 February 1891 vol 350 c1470
SIR STAFFORD NORTHCOTE (Exeter)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will postpone the Second Reading of the Inflammable Liquids Bill for such reasonable period as will enable representatives of the mineral oil trade to consider the details of the measure, and submit to the House of Commons such Amendments as they may deem necessary in its clauses?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. MATTHEWS, Birmingham, E.)

Yes, Sir; I have already stated, in reply to a question in this House, that I will take care that a sufficient interval shall elapse before the Second Reading.
