HC Deb 28 November 1890 vol 349 c165
SIR DONALD CURRIE

I wish to put a question to the Secretary of State for War of which I have given him private notice. I wish to know whether, in connection with, the defences of the Firth of Forth, the Government have made arrangements for the purchase of the Island of Inchkeith, and for the construction of a pier?

MR. E. STANHOPE

Yes; it is our intention to go on with the acquisition of the Island of Inchkeith, and we propose to proceed under the Defences Act for the purpose of obtaining that island. When we have obtained it, I have no doubt that one of the works that will be carried out will be the construction of a pier.
