I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether he can state the number of persons apprehended or cited for crimes and offences in the burgh of Arbroath during the years 1887, 1888, and 1889, and at what hours the public houses were closed during those years?

I am informed that, in the three years named, there were 597, 527, and 495 apprehensions, and that up to Whit Sunday, 1888, the closing hour was 11: since then it has been 10 o'clock.
