HC Deb 20 March 1890 vol 342 c1243
MR. JOHN ELLIS (Nottinghamshire, Rushcliffe)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Government assent to the continuation Return of persons proceeded against under the Criminal Law and Procedure (Ireland) Act, 1887, on to-day's Paper?

* MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I am rather unwilling to grant the Return as it will cause trouble and expense, and as all the facts appear in the Criminal Statistics. If, however, the hon. Member can privately give me reasons, I will offer no serious objection to the Return.
