HC Deb 11 July 1890 vol 346 c1466
MR. O. V. MORGAN (Battersea)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is out of his power, in the case of a pauper lunatic, being also an Army pensioner, to hand over the whole of the man's pension to his wife, with the guardian's consent, or whether he is bound, by the "Superannuation Act, 1887," Section 7 (2), to make a deduction of 4s. a week; and whether, in this latter case, he proposes to take steps, to alter the Law?

*MR. E. STANHOPE

The action of the present law is as stated in the question. My attention was not specially directed at the time to the effect which the legislation of 1887 would have; and I will now take an early opportunity of consulting the Treasury whether any remedy can be applied.
