HC Deb 05 December 1890 vol 349 cc646-7
MR. LLOYD-GEORGE (Carnarvon District)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether the negotiations for the lease of the Gwylwyr Sett Quarry, Pistyll, Carnarvonshire, have been completed; and, if so, whether such a lease contains a provision for ensuring that the quarry will be efficiently worked by the lessee; and whether any explanation can be afforded why this quarry is still unworked, notwithstanding the assurance given that it was intended to commence active operations without any delay?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. JACKSON, Leeds, N.)

The lease of the quarry referred to has not yet been completed, and that is the reason why the quarry is still unworked. It is expected that the lease will shortly be completed, and it will contain clauses requiring the lessees to work it.
