Return ordered— Of the number of ounces of gold and silver plate upon which duty was paid at each of the Goldsmiths' Halls in London, Birmingham, Chester, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dublin, in each year from 18S7–8, inclusive, and of the number of ounces upon which drawback has been allowed in each of these years'; showing also the number of ounces of gold and silver plate ball-marked under the voluntary system of hall-marking articles not subject to duty, and the number of gold and silver watch cases which have been hallmarked, distinguishing those which are British from those which are foreign (in continuation of Parliamentary Paper, No. 348, of Session 1887).—(Mr. Kimber.)
