HC Deb 17 April 1890 vol 343 c674
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has caused any independent inquiry into the allegations of Mr. George Harrison against the officers of Pentonville, Millbank, and Chatham Prisons, made to a representative of the Press, and reported on the 29th of March; and, if so, whether he will communicate the Report to the House?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. MATTHEWS,) Birmingham, E.

Yes, Sir; I have caused inquiry to be made by the Visiting Director into all the allegations which have been attributed to George Harrison in the Press, and he has reported that they are devoid of foundation. I do not propose to lay this Report on the Table, but I will show it to the hon. Member, if he wishes it.
