§ *LORD G. HAMILTONThe aggregate weight of fastenings to armour-plates in the case of the ships specified is, roughly, about 1,000 tons. It should, however, be understood that the armour bolts in question have the reduced shanks proposed by the late Sir William Palliser, but in other respects they are not made on his plan.
