HC Deb 02 May 1889 vol 335 cc967-8
SIR GEORGE TREVELYAN (Glasgow, Bridgeton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is now prepared to state the arrangement which he is prepared to make with regard to the list of Generals?

*MR. E. STANHOPE

I am disappointed at not being yet able to state to the House my proposals with regard to the general officers' list. I do not think I should be justified in doing so until Treasury sanction has been obtained, and so many details are involved in the draft Royal Warrant that its technical preparation has taken longer than I expected. But I will certainly do it as soon as possible.
