I beg to ask the Secretary to the Local Government Board whether he can state the decision arrived at in regard to the holding an independent inquiry into the condition and discipline of the Launceston Workhouse?

The Local Government Board have received a communication from the guardians of the Launceston Union, in which they express their desire that an inquiry be instituted, and the Board propose to direct one of their Inspectors to inquire into the question of the punishments of paupers.
