MR. JOHN ELLIS (Nottinghamshire, Rushcliffe)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether the Government will assent to the Notice of Motion on the Paper to-day for a return respecting the £3,919,954 19s. 4d, advanced up to the 31st day of March, 1888, by Commissioners of Public Works, Ireland, under Act 10 and 11 Vic. c. 32, showing—1, Name and address of person to whom any advance has been made; 2, Date; 3, Amount of such advance; 4, For what purpose; 5, At what rate of interest, and on what terms of repayment; 6, Portion of principal and interest which fell due before the 31st day of March, 1888, in respect of such advance; 7, Amounts of such principal and interest repaid before the 31st day of March, 1888; 8, Arrears of such principal and interest outstanding on the 31st day of March, 1888; with totals of these respective headings.
