HC Deb 16 November 1888 vol 330 c1388
MR. CONYBEARE (Cornwall, Camborne)

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether his attention has been called to the alleged ill-treatment of children in the St. George's Workhouse, Southwark; and, what action he proposes to take in the matter?

THE PRESIDENT (Mr. RITCHIE) (Tower Hamlets, St. George's)

One of the Inspectors of the Local Government Board attended a meeting of the Guardians of the St. Saviour's Union last evening, and the Guardians appointed a sub-committee to thoroughly inquire into the facts. A copy of the Report will be forwarded to the Board, and the Board will then consider what further action, if any, on their part will be necessary.
