HC Deb 15 May 1888 vol 326 c324
SIR CHARLES LEWIS (Antrim, N.) (for Mr. LEA) (Londonderry, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, On which day he intends to introduce the Bill for the drainage of the Bann?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

As the House is aware, I expressed the hope before now that I should be able to introduce this Bill before Whitsuntide. After consultation with the Leader of the House, I do not see any opportunity of doing it before Whitsuntide, unless on Friday afternoon before the adjournment of the House. I do not know whether that course would be convenient, and I leave that to the Leader of the House to determine.

MR. JOHN MORLEY (Newcastle-upon-Tyne)

repeated the Question.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I suppose the right hon. Gentleman was in communication with some Gentleman near him and did not hear; but I have just answered the Question.
