HC Deb 10 May 1888 vol 325 cc1799-800
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been called to persistent breaches of the Truck Act by the Armagh Spinning Company, by the payment of wages in goods from the Company's store, and by illegal deductions from the wages of the employés; and, whether the Government will take action in the matter?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

I am informed by the Chief Inspector of Factories that inquiries are now being made by him as to the alleged breach of the law by the Armagh Spinning Company. Detailed statements are in the course of collection, with the view to the enforcement of the law.
