§ MR. LABOUCHERE (Northampton)asked the hon. Member for Cumberland (Penrith Division), Whether the Charity Commissioners are aware that the Governors of the Sudbury Grammar School have not acted upon the limitations in the occupation of the Head Master, as conveyed to them by the Charity Commissioners in March last; and, whether they intend to take steps to ensure that the scheme laid down by them in regard to this school be no longer violated?
§ MR. J. W. LOWTHER (Cumberland, Penrith)The Governors of Sudbury Grammar School have acted upon an interpretation of the scheme regulating that foundation which, in the opinion of the Commissioners, is not correct; and the Commissioners, in a letter of the 28th of March, informed the Governors of this opinion. The Governors have subsequently been in correspondence with the Commissioners, with a view to justifying their own interpretation of the scheme; but the Commissioners have informed them that, after consideration of those explanations, they adhere to the 1449 opinion expressed on the 28th of March. The Commissioners entertain no doubt that the Governors will now conform to that opinion, and will administer the Foundation accordingly.
