HC Deb 02 March 1888 vol 323 c25
MR. BARTLEY (Islington, N.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, When it is proposed to give effect to the decisions of the Committee appointed to inquire into the case of the clerks in Local Prisons, and which concluded its labours last summer?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

The Committee have not yet made their final Report. I am informed that the clerks have placed their case before the Royal Commission on Civil Service Establishments. It is unlikely, therefore, that any decision will be arrived at in their case until the views of the Royal Commission are known.
