HC Deb 21 June 1888 vol 327 c795
SIR WILLIAM CROSSMAN (Portsmouth)

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether there is any probability of an examination being held for First Class Civil Service Clerkships at an early date; and, if so, when?

SIR HERBERT MAXWELL (A LORD of the TREASURY) (Wigton)

(who replied) said: No, Sir; it is not probable that any examination can be held at an early date; and, looking to the present requirements of the Civil Service, it is not possible for me to say when the next will be held.
