HC Deb 16 July 1888 vol 328 cc1493-4

In reply to Colonel NOLAN (Galway, N.),

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

said, he hoped that, as there was really no opposition to these Bills, hon. Members would allow them to be taken after 12 o'clock to-morrow. After passing their second reading, the Bills would have to be referred to a hybrid Committee, where they would be thoroughly threshed out, and if they returned in a form which was not acceptable to hon. Members opposite, they would have an opportunity of opposing them.

MR. CONYBEARE (Cornwall, Camborne)

said, that the right hon. Gentleman was quite mistaken in supposing that there was no opposition to these Bills; there was, and there would be, opposition.
