HC Deb 10 July 1888 vol 328 c878
MR. F. PARKER (Oxfordshire, Henley)

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether any expense will be thrown on High Sheriffs as Returning Officers at elections under the Local Government Bill?

THE PRESIDENT (Mr. RITCHIE) (Tower Hamlets, St. George's)

The High Sheriffs, as Returning Officers under the Local Government Bill, will have, in the first instance, to incur expense for the purposes of the election; but all their expenses properly incurred will, under the Bill, be paid by the County Council.
