W.)asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether it is true that the retirement of the present Director of the Indo-European Telegraphs is overdue under the Service Rules; and, whether he is not only allowed still to retain his appointment, with all its valuable remuneration and perquisites, but that he is also allowed to hold the appointment of Director of the Edinburgh Museum on a large salary?
§ THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE (Sir JOHN GORST) (Chatham), in reply, said, there was no Service Rule regulating the retirement of the late Director of the Indo-European Telegraphs, who had retired, as settled in January, by an Order of the Secretary of State, on the 15th of February.
