asked the Lord Advocate, Whether he is now in a position to state to the House what measures of relief are proposed by the Government to alleviate, as far as possible, existing distress in the Highlands of Scotland?

The matter is engaging the serious attention of the Government, and they hope to submit proposals on the subject to the House very shortly.
