HC Deb 01 August 1888 vol 329 c1191

(Mr. Sexton, Mr. Murphy, Mr. T. D. Sullivan, Mr. Maurice Healy, Hr. O'Keeffe, Hr. Richard Power, Mr. Peter M'Donald.)

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."—(Mr. Sexton.)

Objection being taken;

THE LORD MAYOR OF DUBLIN (Mr. SEXTON) (Belfast, W.)

appealed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer that, as the Government had practically accepted this Bill, he should induce his follower to withdraw his opposition.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. GOSCHEN) (St. George's, Hanover Square)

said, that, on the understanding that an Amendment was accepted by the hon. Member, the Government would like to see the Bill passed.

Motion agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for To-morrow.
