HC Deb 09 April 1888 vol 324 c700
MR. P. M'DONALD (Sligo, N.)

asked the Parliamentary Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, What time after the date of examination for result fees in Irish National schools are such fees paid to the successful candidates; and, whether the same ought not to be paid within one month after the examination?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

(who replied) said: The Commissioners of National Education inform me that their rule and practice is to pay results fees within about a month from the date of the examination; but that an unavoidable delay occasionally arises through the occurrence of irregularities or other matters, which necessitate correspondence with Managers or Inspectors.
