HC Deb 23 May 1887 vol 315 c893
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether the Government will afford facilities for the discussion of the Report of the Select Committee on the Charges against the Corporation of the City of London?

THE FIRST LORD (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

If the hon. Member will place on the Paper the terms of any Motion he may desire to make on the subject I will consider them, and see if it is possible for the Government to afford him facilities for their discussion; but, as the hon. Member is aware, very much will depend on the progress made with Public Business.

MR. BRADLAUGH

In consequence of the answer of the right hon. Gentleman, I beg to state that I shall put upon the Order Book of the House the following Notice:— That, in the opinion of this House, the conduct of Gabriel Prior Goldney, City Remembrancer; Sir John B. Monckton, knight, Town Clerk; of the members of 'the Special Committee' of the Corporation; and of other members and officials of the City of London, as disclosed in the Report of the Select Committee on London Corporation (Charges of Malversation), is derogatory to the dignity, and deserves the reprobation, of this House.
