HC Deb 23 May 1887 vol 315 cc906-7
THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

I desire to submit a Motion to the House which will, I am sure, command the support of all hon. Members who were in St. Margaret's Church yesterday. It is— That the Thanks of this House be given to the Right Reverend William Boyd Carpenter, D.D. Lord Bishop of Ripon, for the Sermon preached by him on Sunday before this House, at St. Margaret's, Westminster, and that he be desired to print the same; and, that Mr. William Henry Smith and Mr. Secretary Matthews do acquaint him therewith.

MR. W. E. GLADSTONE (Edinburgh, Mid Lothian)

I have great satisfaction in seconding that Resolution, which I believe to be both reasonable in itself and in conformity with the usage of the House on such occasion.

Motion agreed to.
