HC Deb 25 March 1887 vol 312 c1469
MR. SYDNEY BUXTON (Tower Hamlets, Poplar)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether his attention has been called to the Memorial sent him, with reference to the case of Francis M'Lowran, who was sentenced at the Southwark Police Court on the 8th instant to three months' hard labour, for an assault on a police constable, in which it is alleged that a miscarriage of justice has taken place; and, whether he will have inquiries made into the matter?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

Yes, Sir; I have carefully considered this Memorial, and I have read the evidence and obtained a Report from the magistrate upon it, and I see no reason to interfere with the sentence.
