MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, How many medals are to be provided for the Metropolitan Police; and, what is the estimated cost?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

, in reply, said, that the number of medals to be distributed would be between 13,000 and 14,000. The estimated cost had not yet been finally settled with the Mint Authorities.

asked, whether the Metropolitan Police Fund was not partly made up from public taxes and partly from Metropolitan rates; and, if so, by what authority it was proposed to use part of that fund to buy Jubilee medals?
