HC Deb 07 July 1887 vol 317 c81
MR. T. E. ELLIS (Merionethshire)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he has seen the following statement of the Chairman of the Denbighshire Quarter Sessions, in charging the Grand Jury, on Friday, 1st July, 1887:— He was glad that a large number of persons engaged in the disgraceful riots at Llangwm were to be brought to justice. As an inquiry was to be held at Mochdre, he would not refer to that; and, whether he will call the attention of the Lord Chancellor to the matter?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

No, Sir; I have not seen the statement in question; but I do not consider that the words alleged to have been used are of such importance as to make it necessary for me to call the attention of the Lord Chancellor to the matter.
