HC Deb 22 August 1887 vol 319 c1363
MR. W. ABRAHAM (Glamorgan, Rhondda)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he has received a Petition respecting the sentence of eight years' penal servitude passed at the late Glamorganshire Assizes upon Miriam Jones, barely 17 years old, for the attempted murder of her child; and, if so, whether he will recommend Her Majesty to mitigate the severity of such sentence?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. MATTHEWS) (Birmingham, E.)

No Petition has yet been presented to me in this case. In the meantime, I am making injuiries.
