HC Deb 19 August 1887 vol 319 cc1113-4
MR. J. O'CONNOR (Kerry, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland a Question of which he had given him private Notice. It was, Whether he could give any informa- tion to the House relative to the reported conflict between the police and the people at Kenmare; whether it was true that the police made a gross and wanton attack with drawn swords on a peaceable crowd, with the result that several persons were more or less seriously injured; and, whether such attacks on Irish crowds were to form part of the policy of Her Majesty's Government during the corning winter?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

No Report has yet been received with regard to the alleged attack on the people in Kenmare.
