asked the Secretary of State for War, If it is a fact that the 6th Brigade, South West Division of Artillery, called out for preliminary training at Waterford last Easter, under the command of Major Cuffe, mustered only eight recruits at commencement and major portion of training; and, whether the staff in attendance at the said training numbered 16 staff sergeants, one regimental cook and assistant, and eight battery cooks?

The number of recruits at first was 15, which, increased to 45 by the end of the preliminary training. The staff referred to is the permanent staff of the regiment. The number in training of all ranks last year was 355.
