HC Deb 10 September 1886 vol 309 c23
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

asked the First Commissioner of Works, What is the cause of the delay in carrying out the long promised extension of the electric light to the Bar Library at the Law Courts; and, whether he will undertake to complete the arrangements before the close of the Long Vacation?

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER (Mr. PLUNKET) (Dublin University)

It was impossible to begin the work of extending the electric lighting to the Bar Library at the Royal Courts of Justice while the Courts were sitting. The necessary arrangements are now being made, and will, I am assured, be completed before the close of the Long Vacation.
