HC Deb 17 May 1886 vol 305 c1159
MR. KIMBER (Wandsworth)

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether he has had under consideration any plans for the re-instatement of the gold coinage of the Country at its proper value, and for meeting its deterioration, estimated by his penultimate predecessor in 1884 at £500,000, and continually increasing; and, whether he has arrived at any conclusions on the subject?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir WILLIAM HARCOURT) (Derby)

said, he had had this question under his consideration, but he was not able at the present time to announce any definite conclusion on the subject.
