HC Deb 15 March 1886 vol 303 c815
MR. KING (Hull, Central)

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether, in the constitution of the proposed Select Committee to inquire into Indian Administration, care will be taken to secure that the Committee shall be composed principally of persons who have had no official connection with the Indian Administration?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE (Sir UGHTRED KAY-SHUTTLEWORTH) (Lancashire, Clitheroe)

Care will be taken that Members who have had no official connection with the Indian Government are properly represented on the Committee; but I cannot pledge myself to any particular proportion.
