HC Deb 02 March 1886 vol 302 cc1752-3
MR. GILHOOLY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If it is a fact that Mr. John O. Payne, a Justice of the Peace for the county of Cork, refused on February 20th to attest the signatures of voters named Cotter to claims to vote at an election of Poor Law guardians, and if the voters were deprived of their right to vote by his refusal; and, if true, what action the Government will take relative to the matter?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. JOHN MORLEY)

The matter has been brought under the notice of the Lord Chancellor of Ireland, and is now receiving consideration.
