HC Deb 30 August 1886 vol 308 c790
SIR RICHARD TEMPLE (Worcester, Evesham)

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether it is true that the Colonial Office proposes to introduce a Bill to divide the Colony of Queensland into two portions?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. E. STANHOPE) (Lincolnshire, Horncastle)

No, Sir; it is not true. There has been a movement in favour of the separation of the Northern part of Queensland, and we are informed that there is a counter movement also. The matter will require the fullest consideration when the whole case has been heard.
