MR. ARTHUR 0'C0NNOR (Donegal, E.)

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether it is an established regulation at the Royal Military Asylum that, if a child of a soldier does not, on completion of his term at the Asylum, volunteer for the Army, no other child of the same soldier is to be received; and, if so, when was the regulation made, and by whose authority?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

Yes, Sir; the Regulation referred to was made at a Board of the Commissioners of the Royal Military Asylum held at Chelsea on July 31, 1884.
