HC Deb 27 February 1885 vol 294 c1617
BARON HENRY DE WORMS

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether he will lay upon the Table of the House a return of the various Volunteer Corps who have offered their services for garrison and other duties in the present emergency?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

We highly appreciate the spirit of patriotism which has prompted many corps to offer their services for garrison and other duties; but to publish such a Return as is called for by the hon. Member would establish an inconvenient precedent, and would be somewhat unfair upon other corps which have not thought it to be their duty to make such offers, but which are, I am confident no less willing to respond to any call upon them.
