HC Deb 26 February 1885 vol 294 cc1411-2
MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked the Secretary of State for War, When the General Annual Return for the Army for 1884 will be issued?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

The number of regiments on field service increases the difficulty of preparing this Return; but every effort is being made to complete the "Preliminary General Annual Return," to which, I presume, the hon. Member refers, by the 1st of April, the date fixed for its yearly appearance. There is no probability of the final Return being ready earlier than in past years.

MR. ARTHUR O'CONNOR

asked, whether the noble Marquess would furnish a statement showing the effective strength on the 1st of January?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

said, he would see whether that could be done.
