HC Deb 24 February 1885 vol 294 cc1186-7

Rule 1 (Putting the Question).

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! It is my duty to inform the House that I consider that this subject has been adequately discussed; and I think it is the evident sense of the House that the Question should be put.

Mr. GLADSTONE

rose with a copy of the Standing Orders in his hand, but was prevented from making himself heard by loud ironical cheers from the Benches occupied by the Irish Members. The right hon. Gentleman remained standing at the Table.

An Irish MEMBER: This is the Liberal policy.

MR. O'BRIEN

We will remember this in Ireland.
