HC Deb 19 February 1885 vol 294 cc896-7

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."—(General Sir George Balfour.)

MR. ELTON

said, he cordially approved of the measure.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (Sir HENRY JAMES)

said, there was no necessity for prolonging this discussion, as Her Majesty's Government would con- sent to the second reading of the Bill. He regarded the principle of enfranchisement as one that should be encouraged.

Question put, and agreed to.

Bill read a second time, and committed for Monday next.
