HC Deb 30 April 1885 vol 297 c1118
MR. O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If the Government has any information as to the reasons of the failure of the Migration Clause of the Tramways Act; if Government has granted any sums of money, and, if so, how much, and to whom, for the purposes of the Migration Clause; how has this money been employed; and, if the failure is due to defective legislation, whether Government will take any steps to remove this cause of failure?

MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

I have no information on this subject. The Act does not place the initiative in the hands of the Government, and, as I said before, we have received no application for grants.
