HC Deb 20 April 1885 vol 297 c142
COLONEL O'BEIRNE

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether the 79th Cameron Highlanders is the only Line Regiment without a linked Battalion available for Foreign service; if it is a fact that this regiment has been in Egypt since 1882; and, if it is contemplated to add a second Battalion to this Regiment in view of the probable augmentation of the Army?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

The Cameron Highlanders are the only regiment with but one Line battalion. They have been in Egypt since 1882. There is no present intention of proposing to give it a second Line battalion.
