HC Deb 10 November 1884 vol 293 c1375
SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether, in the event of the failure of the negotiations for peace in South Africa, and a definite resolve to despatch a considerable Military Expedition into Bechuanaland, an Estimate will be submitted to the House as soon as possible, and an opportunity given for discussing it?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

I am now in correspondence with the Colonial Office and the Treasury as to the funds which will be required for preparations for the despatch of an Expedition.

SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL

asked whether, when the noble Marquess ascertained the fund that would be required, he would afford an opportunity for discussion?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

said, that would be decided when the arrangements were made.
