Whether he is aware that the Corporation of Kilkenny have obtained an eviction decree against their tenant John Bergin, who holds a farm under them in the neighbourhood of Borris-in-Ossory, and have refused to allow him to sell his interest in his holding, although the amount realizable for it would far exceed the year and a half's rent due from him; and, whether, if this is in accordance with the 883 existing Law, the Government propose to remove the restrictions imposed on the sale of a tenant's interest?
§ MR. TREVELYANSir, I am informed that the Kilkenny Corporation obtained a decree against John Bergin, and that he has been evicted. They did not refuse him permission to sell his interest; but the difficulty was that there was such an amount due by him that his interest was practically valueless.
