HC Deb 20 March 1884 vol 286 c303
MR. GABBETT

asked the Secretary of State for War, If he would explain why the 5th Battalion Royal Minister Fusiliers (County Limerick Regiment) is not placed on the same footing as the other battalions of the regiment, in having the advantage of an Adjutant from the Line under the now system, its present Adjutant having served only in a West Indian regiment, and Officers of West Indian regiments having been excluded from appointments as Adjutants of Auxiliary Forces under the new system?

THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTON

The adjutant of the 5th Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers was appointed under the old system, under which he is not liable to removal till he reaches the age of 55 years. I may add that he is reported to be a very efficient officer.
