HC Deb 13 March 1884 vol 285 cc1354-5
MR. PARNELL

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he has any information that he can lay before the House as to the number of leaseholders of agricultural tenancies in Ireland, distinguishing between leases entered into previously to the Land Act of 1870, and those entered into subsequently?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, the latest available information on the subject is that contained in the Return presented to this House in 1870. I have been in communication for some time past with my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Cork County (Colonel Colthurst), and have come to the conclusion that it will be desirable to collect the information; but it requires some months to obtain it. On the last occasion it took from January to October.
