HC Deb 06 March 1884 vol 285 c671
MR. GIBSON

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether, in view of the statement made by the Right honourable Gentleman, on the occasion of the withdrawal of the Sale of Liquors on Sunday (Ireland) Bill in July last, to the effect that if the Government had charge of affairs an early opportunity would be given to the House next Session of coming to a judgment on the measure, he is now able to say when it is likely that opportunity will be afforded?

MR. GLADSTONE

, in reply, said, the Government had not yet been able to fix a day for the second reading of this Bill; nor was he at present in a position to do so, owing to the state of Business. Immediately after the debate upon the second reading of the Representation of the People Bill he should hope to be able to answer the Question.
