HC Deb 03 March 1884 vol 285 cc335-6
MR. MACFARLANE

asked the Lord Advocate, When the Report of the Royal Commission upon the Crofters of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland will be in the hands of Members?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. B. BALFOUR)

I understand that the Report has proved to be a work of great labour, and that it is not likely to be ready before the end of this month.

MR. MACFARLANE

Would it not be possible to publish the evidence without waiting for the Report?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. B. BALFOUR)

In answer to a previous Question of the hon. Member, I stated that it was not according to usage in the case of the Report of a Royal Commission to publish the evidence till the Report is presented.
